More dollars for training means great gains for you!

Ask anyone who has lost money, they’ll tell you it’s not a very rewarding experience. But time, we would all agree, is so much more valuable than money. Your life is not just measured in time, it is time. And when you waste time, you throw away part of your life.

clock-dali-blueEven worse, you can work and get your money back. But time lost is lost forever. And nothing has value outside of time. You can have the greatest home, the finest clothes, and all the wisdom in the world, but without the time to enjoy them, you have nothing.

And yet, we squander nothing as liberally as we squander time.

People who become rich have one thing in common, they rarely waste a penny. People who grow into formidable leaders, do much the same with their time. They seldom waste a minute.

A Stitch in Time

In honor of the old adage, A Stitch in Time Saves Nine, here are nine simple and easy ways to make use of time you might be tempted to waste.

  1. Start a project that will raise your company’s bottom line
  2. Reinforce the profitable behavior of one employee with positive feedback
  3. Redirect the repellent behavior of an employee
  4. Take steps to break a bad habit
  5. Begin practicing a new good habit
  6. Forgive and forget a grudge you might be holding and move on
  7. Make a small decision that will make somebody’s day
  8. Make a major choice that will improve the rest of your life

At the risk of sounding like a late-night, direct-response TV commercial, I urge you to act now! Time is running out! Take one of the above nine, time-optimizing actions in the next five minutes. Do one a day until doing so becomes a habit. Print the list and place it where you’ll see it every day. I promise you, doing so will make a big difference in your development as a leader. In no time!
